Anne grew up and completed her schooling in the Sunshine Coast area. She moved to Brisbane at the end of her schooling and became a teacher in 1956. After marrying in 1963 she and Bruce moved to the Stafford district in 1966. In 1971 she gave up teaching when their first child was born. Their two children attended Stafford Preschool (which had just been opened). They progressed through Stafford Infants, Stafford Primary and Everton Park High. Although I was born in Berrigan, New South Wales, I have spent most of my life in Queensland. I became a teacher in 1959. I taught at Stafford State School from 1967 to 1988. During my time at Stafford State School I saw enrolments go from over one thousand students to just a few hundred. Many changes, both in the education and the school environment, took place in that time. They were wonderful years in which I derived great pleasure from the children whom I taught. I have since retired and although I lead a busy life, I have enjoyed being part of the Stafford District Community History Project.

Kay grew up in Wooloowin then spent some time in the country at Kilkivan before returning to Brisbane. She met Graham at Kedron State High School where they became high-school sweethearts and were married some years later. Two sons were born in Sydney and when they were still pre-school, the family moved back to Brisbane. Both boys attended Stafford State Infant's School before going on to the 'big school'. During these years, Kay was involved with Tuckshop, Ladies' Auxiliary (Remember the Mothers' Day working bees?) and P&C. It was here that she also learnt the Jam and Pickle trade for the annual fetes. The family has remained in the local district. Most of her working life has been spent in bookkeeping but she also gained an Associate Diploma in Visual Arts from Kelvin Grove College. During the past couple of years, Kay has found her time spent as a voluntary tutor in 'English as a Second Language' at Brackenridge TAFE most rewarding. Her interests are varied. They include genealogy, photography, theatre, music, the arts and travel, and she is looking forward to getting back to some of these after the Stafford History Project and enjoying time with her delightful granddaughter.
